I took some time to write the text ‘Product Environmental Footprint – can’t we do better in LCA’, mainly driven by the feeling that with all the effort put into Environmental Footprint, and the high potential a successful implementation has, it is a bit hard to see the current status, and I was wondering if it is possible to identify some of the reasons for this situation, and whether these are just typical starting troubles for a large and complicated project, or something else.
As you will see, the text is more arguing that it is “something else”. This raises then the question whether this can’t be done better; and more broadly, for LCA, can’t we do better if we are to support far-reaching, “real-life” decisions, for many existing products.
